Forthcoming Events 2005

Performance of Johann Strauss's operetta Jabuka, Czech Republic in Brno

Saturday and Sunday 1, 2 July

The concert version performance of Jabuka is part of the big European Strauss Stage Festival whose aim is to present all stage works by Johann Strauss. The Festival was inaugurated in 2004 with the operetta Simplicius presented in Coburg, Germany. The staging will be at the Spilberk Castle in Brno and is the first step for other performances to follow in various European cities.

Artists are participating from four countries: the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria and Slovakia. The production is prepared in two versions, one for German speaking audiences, the second for Czech and Slovak, in order for the audience to follow the plot and characters easily. Set out below is the program for the outdoor concert performances of Jabuka together with other events organized by the Czech Johann Strauss Society. This is a unique opportunity to see a rare Johann Strauss masterpiece complete in its original score, with a full orchestra and choir.

Jabuka (Das Apfelfest), Operetta in 3 Acts by Johann Strauss. Text Max Kalbeck and Gustav Davis. Musical director, Conductor Christian Pollack with the European Johann Strauss Orchestra and soloists from Vienna. Artistic Director Jiri Preisinger with the Gaudeamus Chorus Brno and Ballet members from the Brno National Theater.
